New year, new you, blah blah... but seriously though I learned a lot of things in 2015! It was my biggest year for Mon Voir yet, I moved to Costa Mesa and became the owner of a rad studio space and I traveled a ton! As grateful and absolutely blown away I am by my life this last year, there are a few things that I want to do differently in 2016 for life and work;
1. Spend less money! I like high quality coffee and high quality paper. I've heard that a Financial Advisor's first piece of advise is, "Get rid of your $5 daily coffees!" It makes so much sense, you could be saving over $1300 a year on coffee alone (yeah right, like that's gonna happen! My sanity is more important to me). To be truly transparent, with what I spent going out on food and drinks alone last year I could have spent 6 months in Paris. After going through my spending from 2015, I realized that there are a few things that I can budget with my finances to prepare for the future. I am going to cook at home more often (which I've been told is healthier for you? whatever), I am going to pump the breaks on top shelf drinks (maybe cocktails in general) and I am going to fire my Studio Manager. JK I'd be lost without her. I am going to be very conscious when I am about to buy a thing that I don't need!!
2. Utilize my space to the max! For the last 7 months I have had this incredible workshop space and photo studio space that hasn't nearly been used enough! I am going to be more adamant about reaching out to rent my space for photo shoots, events and workshops much more diligently. Visit www.lasallehq.com to learn more!
3. Work/Life balance. I know that I wrote A LOT about this the last few months, but I am going to really focus on making sure I don't work 75 hours a week anymore. I have some big goals and I want to do incredible things this year outside of my business. Don't get me wrong, being a business owner has it's perks, but sometimes the business owns you, rather than the other way around. I am adamant that in 2016 I am going to fulfill every opportunity I have to balance my work life with my personal life. I can't wait to introduce my new wedding templates! You are going to love them, I am very proud! Once these are up in action, I will also be spending less time on custom suites, which gives me more freedom to pursue my bucket list items!
4. Bookkeeping! There are SO many ins and outs with my businesses; checks in, checks out, bills, supplies, custom suite costs, rentals, etc. With dozens of these things happening every day I am terrible at keeping track of it all. I am going to make it habit to maintain my bookkeeping in the most organized way! I am learning now that if I had been as dedicated to this last year as I am now, I wouldn't have to spend so much time digging for things!
2017 Jenna is going to be SO thankful for what 2016 Jenna is working on. Every year we grow and learn about ourselves and having a fresh start is the best time to get going on the things you want to work on in your life! Cheers to 2016 resolutions!
